One Week Away

I can't believe that Christmas is a week away! Thank goodness I went last Saturday to start my shopping! I never wait this long to do my shopping! I only have a few more items to pick up and I'm hoping that'll be over the next few days. I really miss blogging!

My Day Off!!

I finally have a day off! Ask me how I'm spending it! I slept in, didn't shovel the walks, made a few work phone calls and answered some emails and now I'm baking! I figured I'd better get it all done now before I get the call to come into work. Speaking of work, I officially had the worst day ever there last night. I had a boy tell me to eff off and go home and then was lied to by the one boy that I felt I had the best repore with. I was so ticked off that I came home early. I'd like to say I didn't take it personally, but yet here I am blogging about it. I think the closer we get to Christmas the harder it gets for the boys. The majority of them don't get to go home for the Holiday and they get so upset and don't know how to handle the anger and disappointment. I'm torn between having sympathy for them and wanting to drive the bus that runs them over. Oh! I can make carmel popcorn too!!

Boys....Boys.....Boys.......Kill Me Now!!

Okay, so I've worked like, I don't know, A BILLION hours in the last two weeks. I think I spend more time at the GH than the boys do. I can't remember if I have friends, and the only people that look familar are called Mom and Dad. Yep, I've reverted to being a kid. And my poor puppies give me that sad "take me with you" look as I dash out of the house. And I'm afraid Christmas is going to pass me by. And we decided to pick names this year. I really hope Aaron likes cash.

Nothing Really

I started watching the last few episodes of MI-5 season 5, I think its season 5. But I forgot how cute Rupert Penry-Jones is! So today I added his picture. And now I want to go watch North & South, not the one with ugly Patrick Swayze but with the really cute British Guy! And as a side note, I'd like to say thank you to Kim for introducing us to the HOT British North & South Guy!

Visiting Brooke!!

We headed up to Idaho this weekend to visit Brooke and to continue to celebrate Aaron's birthday. We had a really fun weekend! We went to the Texas Road House in Idaho Falls, this is Aaron's favorite!

Our waiter was a bit of an idiot, but then again so was the hostess, but the food was really good! I couldn't get our waiter to understand that we needed a TON of limes. I'm not even really sure how I got ahold of this lemon, but I do remember NOT having enough limes!!

Happy Birthday Aaron!!

Its Aaron's Birthday!! He's finally 25! Which means his auto insurance is going to go down! Wha-Hooooo!! For Aaron's birthday we invited the crew over for cheesecake at midnight (cuz that's when we all finally roll on home). We all had a good time and the cheesecake was yummy! I'd like to tell you what my brother Aaron is like, but I think his shirt says it all. Love You Aaron!!

My Friend Don

Remember when I had time to blog? And I did it all the time? I miss my blogging time. So remember when I started my new position at the Boys Group Home? And people started putting my picture on milk cartons? Apparently I went missing. I'm still not sure I've been found. But anyway, when I first started, all my co-workers hated me. I was pretty confident that they all wanted to stab me in my sleep, especially Don. He hated me like hate was the new 31 Flavor Ice Cream and everyone had to have a taste. Hate...........Me............Tons. Sad times. Well, Don has been on vacation this last week. He went to Boston to meet his 2 half sisters that he has never met before. He was extremely excited. So I was extremely excited to hear how the vacation went and to hear all about his sisters. So I got to work yesterday and walked into the office and he was there with Erin, Allyson and Kate. And as I walked through the door I had this fluffy brown thing tossed at me. And Don says "Here I just wanted to give you something for being so nice to me". Now I was completely taken off guard by this statement and by the cute Boston Brown Bear I was holding in my hands. Things have gotten so much better than those first 2 months I started with the boys, and I've come to not only appreciate Don but depend on him for so many things. But did I really expect to receive a Boston Bear from him that he picked up on his vacation? NO WAY!! My three co-workers were a bit shocked and impressed. And when they said something to Don he said "She does a lot of nice things for me, she's my really good friend". It took almost 3 hours to pick me up off the floor. So I'm happy to say, that I have a new friend! And I never would have believed it would be Don! And in true friendship I wanted to let Don know how much I appreciated him and his friendship, so we took the boys to a Haunted House this evening and I threw him under the bus! Yep! I made him be my human shield! I made him stand between me and all the crazy freaky psycho clowns. It was a good time had by all! And I'm happy to say, I was not the only one screaming like a little girl, nor was I even the best at screaming like a little girl! Ahh, teenage boys.

Where did I go??

Okay I know I've been neglectful. And for those of you who don't know the reason why, well here it is..........Work. I know, I know, lame reason for disappearing off the face of blogging. But let me break it down as to what that really means. I started working for a company in Utah that works with troubled youth back in October. I've been working at a Girls Group Home. Well at the end of May I was asked to move up to the Draper Boys Group Home and be the Assistant Home Supervisor, I know fancy title. What exactly does that mean? That means I work 40 hours of over time every week. But I say that with a smile on my face, cuz I really do like my job. I came into the boys home knowing that there were some issues that would be difficult for me to deal with, but yet knowing that I would be up for the challenge. So what exactly do I do? I help mold boys with behavioral issues. That means I go with them to court dates, therapy meetings and help them figure out life on a day to day basis. I'm the person they get to vent their grievances to, and I really do like it. That and a TON of paperwork. Files, Files Files!! That's my job. I can honestly say I've had more fun working with the boys than I did with the girls, yep, less drama. And its been fun seeing the inside of the boys thought processes, especially when it comes to what they think about girls. So even though I've only had one day off in 30, I can say I still really like my job and I think that it was the best thing for me to take on.

Happy Birthday to Brooke!!

It's Brooke's Birthday! I got her the coolest gift, and I'd tell you what it is but I haven't sent it to her yet and I can't give it away before she gets it! But I know she's going to love it! I was supposed to go up and visit her last week but because of my new job offer and the training that needed to be done before I started, well I couldn't take the time off after all. Which is why her present wasn't sent to her. Hopefully Ill get it in the mail in the morning. Here are some of my favorite Brooke Moments..........

*When I was 7 years old Brooke was watching TBS Superstations Night Tracks and she was kicking her leg back and forth and a Madonna video came on, she immediately said "I hate Madonna" and kicked her leg out and landed on her butt. I couldn't stop laughing and told her that she shouldn't say she hates people, Karma doesn't like it.

*It was Christmas Time and I was given this talking Stocking. It said "Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas". We had pushed the button so much that the battery was dying. It finally had stopped working all together. On Christmas Morning Brooke was pulling out presents from behind the tree and sat right next to the stockings. All of a sudden she comes flying out from behind the tree with this look of panic on her face. We weren't sure what was wrong and then all of a sudden we her this long drowned out "Hooooo Hooooo Hooooo Meeeerrrrrrry Christmmmmaaaaassss!". It was so low and freaky sounding and Brooke thought for sure the Exorcist was after her.

*One night I was in my room doing some homework when I started hiccuping. Normally not a big deal, but I sound like a cracked out mouse. Brooke came in and started talking to me and right in the middle of her sentence she yells in my face! I was so startled that my hiccups went away. She told me that she's always wanted to try scaring the hiccups out of someone. It worked!

*I think my favorite memory of Brooke took place before the Orem house was remodeled. We had this tiny kitchen. And it shared a wall with the stairs that went to the basement. We had a grate that was on the wall that you could hear into the kitchen with. One day I was coming up the stairs and I could hear Brooke in the kitchen. I immediately started talking through the grate telling Brooke to let me out of the fridge that it was cold. She couldn't figure out where I was or how I was talking to her but she was too smart to fall for the whole being stuck in the fridge gag.

I have to say that Brooke is one of my favorite partners in crime. If I'm up to No Good, I know that Brooke will be right there with me. I love that she supports my wacky sense of adventure and is laughing with me the whole time we're plotting our next "accident". I'll always love the green Aliens on Tara's feet and will always credit Brooke for my start in the world of Mischief!

THE PARENTS ARE HOME!!

Okay, really I don't know who was more excited to see Tara and Billy! I think it might have been me! Yes I think I might have ran to the stairs to greet them too. Only I think I grabbed their luggage where the kids grabbed their parents. I think at that point I might have thought, "If I grab their luggage then that means they have to come home with us!!!". After Tara being gone for 2 weeks, and me trying to train for my new job, I might have lost my mind somewhere. I honestly don't know how single working parents do it! I can't tell you how many times I was afraid I left the kids somewhere when I should have picked them up or I thought they were at someones house, only to find them at my own. I'm not kidding my mind is lost! (No, I haven't quite put out posters for the retrieval of my mind...yet). So to all those single working parents! GOOD LUCK!! I did it for about 3 weeks and I'm not in a hurry to EVER do it again!

Iron Man

I took the kids to see Iron Man last night. I had already seen this movie and thought it was a great and thought the kids would love to watch it. And they did. But what they loved even more than seeing Iron Man fly around with jets or Tony Starks amazing tools, were the previews before the movie. We saw a preview for the new Batman, which Zona announced loudly to the whole theatre "THAT'S BATMAN! HE CAN FLY!". And then Ireland followed that up with "That Joker scares me!". Broc just loved the whole thing. After the Batman Preview we saw the preview for The Incredible Hulk. And again Zona announced who that was, only it sounded more like "THAT'S THE HULF!". And when the bad guy came on the screen to battle The Hulk Broc jumped out of his seat and started Ohhhing. I'm not sure when this movie comes to theatres, I know its sometime this summer, but I'm sure Billy will have fun taking Broc to see it. I was worried that Zona might have a hard time sitting through some of the parts of Iron Man, but he did really well. There was only one part where he sat up and asked where the tools were and what they were doing. And he now NEEDS a new BIGGER hammer like the one on Iron Man.

Poor, Poor Tara!

So today we did our weekly trip to WalMart. Tara and I have her three little wee ones and boy are they just enjoying this shopping trip! Broc and Ireland remind me so much of Tara and Shadd. Anyway, we go through the gardening area for some new flowers to plant in the flower bed, we go through the toy section so Zona can get a new gun to break over his brothers head again and then we go to the grocery section for milk and a yummy treat. As Tara goes to grab a treat for the kids, she bends over and we hear this ripping sound. I tried so hard to NOT laugh. I really did! But the look on her face and her squeal of "Oh Man! My favorite pants!!", I couldn't keep my laugh inside my head. I laughed so hard I had tears coming out of my eyes. I couldn't answer her when she asked how bad of a rip it was. Honestly, I'm still laughing as I'm typing this! I really did feel bad for her, I just thought it was so funny! She had this look on her face of "Of course I split my pants! My kids are out of control, My sister looks and acts half dead and the last thing I really wanted was a hole in my pants!". But on the bright side, she did buy a really cute skirt!

What Happens in Vegas

I don't think I have ever laughed so hard during a movie! From the moment she was dumped by her fiance to the last credits, I laughed! My favorite part is at the end during the credits when they ring the ex-finace's door. I won't give it away, but it was hilarious! I'm glad Erin, Tara & Gina made me go see it. I did want to bail out and just go to bed. (Someone may have been up til 3 in the morning playing tennis on the Wii).

And thanks to one of my OLDER sisters, Brooke, I will be able to put it on my IPod (Thanks for the IPod Dad!!). I just love family!

The Dreaded Chinese

Okay, so about a month ago I took two of the GHG's (Group Home Girls) to the Doctor. They were there for their Well-Child Check-ups. As we were leaving the Dr asked if he could examine my throat, odd-but okay. He then asked me if I had a thyroid problem. I said, not that I was aware of, which he responded to with "You should have it checked by your Dr". I'll admit, this brought on a new sense of panic for me. I have no idea what happens or what to look for when dealing with a faulty thyroid. So I came home and immediately went to WebMD. I typed in thyroid and found exactly what I was looking for......trouble. Out of 10 symptoms to look for, I clearly had 9 and possibly 10. So what the heck?? How did he know I had a thyroid problem? Well the first indicator was that I looked like crap. I think the second indicator was that I have suddenly taken on a lovely yellowish tone. The third might have been the excessive baggage I seem to be carrying under my eyes. And if none of those were clues it just might be the puffiness of my face and butt! So what can be done about a defective thyroid? Get medicated! Which I'm sure I'll be doing here soon. I just need to find the time to schedule an appointment. Until then, my eyes will still look as though they have packed for a 3 month vacation, my face and butt will continue to look as though I've been stung by a bee and can't find the Benadryl. And that lovely skin tone called yellow will just be mistaken for a cheap brand of sunless tanner. And to top it all off! I've been craving Chinese food! (What am I pregnant too??) What's the big deal with that you might ask? Well, I don't like Chinese food! It makes me ill! No really, I get ill. So what did I do on Friday night? I gave into the craving and ate the Chinese food. Within 4 hours, my body let me know how much it truly hates Chinese food. And it hasn't been happy with me for the last 2 days. Remember on the movie A League of Their Own? When Madonna poisons their chaperon? And the Dr said he never knew a woman to puke that much? I could have given her a run for her money. So what does that have to do with my thyroid? I'm not really sure, but I bet its lack of functionality is making me crave The Dreaded Chinese!!

The Gift of Life

I know Tara is going to just love me for posting this picture. (Don't Do Drugs Kids!! This is what happens when you're on morphine for 4 days straight). So why was my sister on morphine for 4 straight days you wonder? Well, because my sister chose to give the gift of life. Tara went in on Tuesday April 15th to donate her kidney to her dear friend Alvin.
Alvin has been on dialysis for several years and has gone through 54 donors. He was hospitalized earlier this year for 6 weeks, and his wife Candice knew that if they didn't find a donor soon, it would be too late.

Tara soon learned that she was a match for Alvin and the surgery was scheduled. After a day of grueling patience, tolerance and prayer we were finally told that everything went well. Tara's kidney was transplanted in Alvin and it immediately began working. Tara spent 3 hours in recovery and was then brought to her room. She really struggled with this hospital stay. She was struggling to breathe and was in some intense pain for the first few days. We struggled with the nursing staff to do their jobs correctly and really struggled with the lack of communication the whole medical staff seemed to suffer from. I have never seen a hospital floor run so inadequately, it was rather horrifying knowing that my sister's life dangled in their incompetent hands. Once we were finally able to get Tara to a stable point we asked for her immediate release. And again, this seemed to be too much for the nursing staff to handle. But once we were able to put the nightmare behind us and Tara came home, her recovery has been making leaps and bounds. As for Alvin, his recovery seemed to be advancing faster than Tara's and it was wonderful to see the immediate difference the kidney made in his life. Everyday he looked better and better. To see such the difference this made in his life is just humbling.
I have always known that Tara was a special gift that the Lord placed in my life. That I needed her loving spirit to help guide me along. I take her for granted. I'm so accustomed to always having her in my life, and it never surprises me when she puts others before herself. But this donating a kidney experience has really opened my eyes to how many people in this world don't know what its like to have such a selfless spirit always around. So many times we heard from people what a truly giving person Tara is for doing this transplant, and how they wouldn't be able to it themselves. I caught myself saying (in my head of course) well Duh! Tara would do anything to serve others. But looking at this from an outsiders eyes, it has really opened mine to see how many people truly couldn't do such a selfless act. I know Tara, this is who she is, this is what her spirit is built upon, its why my life has always been so blessed to have her in it. So I need to say Thank You to Alvin and Tara. Thank you for teaching me that everyone here in this world has a specific plan that has been mapped out for them, designed for them by the Lord, to teach and test them. This truly was a specific task the Lord set up for Tara and Alvin to go through. And it was so amazing to see Tara follow through and do what was asked of her and do it with such a loving heart. How grateful I am to have such an amazing example to follow.

Shopping with Ireland

Today I went to Wal-mart with Ireland. I always love shopping with Ireland!! She has the best chitter-chatter. Today she told me all about how her brother Broc doesn't like to be called Broccoli and she thinks that's funny. So I asked her if she wanted me to start calling her Carrots. She said "UH!! Noooooh!!". I said I could call Zona Asparagus if that made her feel better. She asked "What's Asparagus?" and I told her its a cross between Broccoli and Carrots. She put a funny look on her face and said "I think that's what my next sister is going to be." I just love having these conversations!

And I'm Back!!

Well okay I actually got back from Texas on Tuesday, its just taken me this long to actually sit down and blog. So here's Texas..........Our trip started off with us having a lay over in Phoenix. We're getting off the plane and on our way to the next leg of our flight and we're talking about a friend that is in Vegas for her vacation. So Erin, lovingly says "That Whore!", and the guy in front of us checking his messages turns around and asks "Who's my girlfriend?". I couldn't stop laughing (as I point at Erin). So we find our next gate and decide to grab something to eat, as we're on our way to Chili's we pass this very nice looking lady that has no arms, but a really nice green shoulder bag. This raised all sorts of questions for me and apparently Erin. And luckily we were able to voice those questions later in the car. So we have dinner, grab our next flight and arrive in Austin at 11:35 pm. And Yeah for us!! My Mom and Kim are there to pick us up! I was so excited to see them that I started doing my Happy Dance, which I was even more excited to see that Kim was joining in on! And the guy waiting to pick up his luggage enjoyed the free show. So we leave the airport and head to my Aunt's house for the night, this is the part where we started asking all the no armed lady questions. We get to Aunt Lita's and Taylor and Chase are still awake playing Madden Football. They were excited to see me but really wanted to see Max, who unfortunately had to stay home. So we finally go to bed and about 6 o'clock in the morning my Aunt pops her head in and says "I'm glad you're here and I'm off to work". I go back to bed and sleep until mid-morning. We eventually left Austin and head to my parents home in Killeen. We stopped at a fun little Outlet Strip-Mall, but thought the prices weren't so Outlet. We get to Killeen and get ready for Institute. The next 5 days can pretty much be summed up like this........got up went shopping, took a nap, went shopping, took a nap, went shopping, took another nap. What? We're in the car? Cool! Nap time!! I'm Out! What? We're at the Mall? Cool! Go time!! I do have to say that Thursday was a really fun day! All the girls went shopping and had lunch at Chili's. My favorite part was watching Miss Aubrey order her lunch. She was so polite and so excited to get a Corn Dog. She did have a hard time deciding between the pizza and corn dog, but in the end the corn dog won! I was so glad to be able to spend some time with Kim and her Family. She has the coolest most polite kids ever! Good Job Kim!! I was really happy to spend some time with my parents. Its nice being able to talk to them on the phone, but there's just something about being right there with them that always lifts your spirits. It was nice to see Trent again! He showed up on Wednesday night and left with Blayne and Kim to Oklahoma. I had some fun doing his Texas Longhorns apparel shopping. Hope the kids like what I picked out!! Oh Hey Mom, if you're reading this, I should have picked up that Short Sleeved Polo Texas Longhorns Shirt in Corpus Cove (??) at the Walmart. If you find yourself over there would you pick up the orange one with the white stripe for Trent and bring it with you to Utah next month? Thanks!! All in all it was a really great vacation! It was exactly what I needed! So to Mom and Dad, thank you for letting us invade! To Blayne, Kim and Co, thanks for staying a few extra days so we could hang out! To Trent, I'll do your shopping anytime!! I had a great time!! (And just so you know, Ellie missed me a TON!! Tara said she didn't come out of her room for 3 days and she didn't stop licking my face for 20 minutes! Max missed me too, but he waited to show it until today, he wouldn't leave my side. I think Zona missed me a bit, he spent the next 2 days sitting on my lap calling me "Amber-Bamber". Ireland missed me, but I think mostly because she was tired of taking care of the dogs, but she liked her really cool princess watch!! I'm not sure Broc knew I was gone. But he LOVES his Spiderman tattoo's, yep all 48 of them, hehehehe. And I think Tara missed me, cuz she really needed a nap!).

Killeen, Texas

Yep, we made it to Killeen! Alive and Well. And the weather is WONDERFUL!! I think we're at 80 degrees this morning. But I can't really stay and say much, I have some laundry to go grab and I need to download some pictures, so stay tuned in...........

Cute Little Charlie

At work tonight we had some free time, the girls actually went to bed on time. (It could have had something to do with the fact that I made them run 3 miles on the track this afternoon, hehehehe). Anyway, we started watching YouTube and I could not stop laughing at this!

Chess with Ireland

Ireland asked me to play chess with her today. I said sure and the game begins. So far, I think I'm loosing. I'm not really sure. But I do know that you have to kick the other guys in order to win and she keeps kicking my guys. I also know I'm loosing cuz I don't wait for the magical pony to say its my turn, so then I loose a turn. So in about 4 minutes, Ireland has won the game. So what were the rules again?

Hiking We Ago............

So today at the group home, I had a special guest speaker come in. Kandice Carter, she's 18, running for Miss Orem and has had a really rough year. She spoke to the girls about how she's suffered from a number of different mental issues and has tried to commit suicide twice in the last year. She told of how she finally had to just deal with the fact that no one was going to be able to help her, other than herself. She told of how she had really low self-esteem and that she dated a guy that only made her feel worthless. She was really amazing to listen to. She did a great job speaking with the girls and explaining what her platform for Miss Orem is all about. So after hearing this wonderful speaker, we had dinner and I then took them to the Provo Trail and made them hike 7 miles. It was AWESOME, cold but AWESOME!! I wore them out! We came home made some cinnamon toast and hot chocolate (I actually made hot chocolate from scratch) and then put them to bed. I have to say that this was the best day I've had at the group home.

Matchbox Twenty

Yep!! I saw Matchbox Twenty last night! Hello Rob Thomas! Our night started out with me picking up all the groupies and heading to the E-Center. We're all hungry so we stop at Chili's where I ordered the yummy Ceasar Salad Pita. We get our checks and pay (and some cheap-o didn't leave Jordan a tip!) and then leave for the concert. Gretchen, (who rocks!!), picked up our tickets at Will Call and we head into the concert. The first act, which I can't even remember their name, was beyond weird. They started jumping on the piano and busting up their drums, it was really bizzare. Then Alanis started, and again very weird! I like her music, but her concert was beyond me. I didn't get what she was doing and I kept texting Gretchen so she could explain it to me. At one point Alanis was spoofing Fergie, again, beyond me. Then MB20 came on! Wha-Hoo!! I love watching Rob in concert! He does one great show!! He played on his piano this time, which was awesome! My favorite song of the night was Bright Lights, (Rob played the piano). And Paul sang a song that Rob originally sang, I can't remember which one, I lost concentration because some lady started breast feeding her baby at this point. Okay, really? What parent brings a baby to a concert and then needs to breast feed? Gross! And if that wasn't enough of a distraction, we had the 40-something drunk white trashers in front of us. At one point they turned around and told us that this was a concert and that we needed to act like we were at one. (Uh thanks for the news flash?) I hurried and moved Erin and Kate away before we had an all girl smack down right there on the balcony. Bless the Peace Makers!! We moved and it just happened to be over to where I think their boyfriends/husbands were sitting. Which was kind of a joke and I can see why they spend their time drunk and away from their husbands. I think they might swap husbands too, and teams. They were weird. But back to the concert! MB20 played a lot of their new songs which was really fun and they ended their encore with one of our all time fave's, Push.

By far, the best Matchbox concert I've been too. Wish they would have let Rob play some of his songs, but understandable (it'd break the band, and they just worked out their "issues"). And just in case Miss Sawyer asks anyone...................I AM THE BAND!!

BBC Rocks!!

Okay, so when Kim asked me if I had seen this version of Persuasion I had no idea that I really NEEDED to see this version of Persuasion. I loved this movie! I loved it as much if not more than I love North and South. Soooo, once again! Thanks Kim!! I love your taste in movies! Please feel free to send any others that you like my way. And Dibs on Wentworth!!

Nothing Really

So I haven't anything exciting to say, other than yesterday I was supposed to go into work and I was told I could have the night off. How wonderful is that? I was so excited!! I ended up doing some hair. But man was it nice to have the night off! I ended up spending 42 minutes in the Taco Bell drive thru line with Erin and then we went over to grab some glue at Robert's. I came back home and fixed Erin's hair and then put some dark back into my own. It was a great night off! And today in Sunday School, that one annoying seminary teacher that never shuts up, only spoke 3 times, and I actually liked his third comment on how a King would save a man that was condemned to death by putting his rob over him. So the phrase "I've got you covered" comes from this action. I thought it was cool, even though it came from one of the most annoying men the world has ever heard.

Colbie Calliat

In case you don't know who Colbie Calliat is, she is the musician that sings "Bubbly". We went to her concert last night. It was held in SLC at the Venue. We hung out on the balcony, it was cool. I think the best part of the concert was watching her 2 guitarists, Justin Young and Tim Fagan. I think she might have something going on with Justin, if he were in my band, I'd have something going with him, (if Tim was busy of course). She's coming back to Utah in April to the Tuacahn in St. George. I think we'll have to see her again. It might be our goal to hang out with band. All I'll need is a black T-shirt with the white letters S E C U R I T Y.

Is it Reallly Me?

What Amber Means
You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are confident, self assured, and capable. You are not easily intimidated.
You master any and all skills easily. You don't have to work hard for what you want.
You make your life out to be exactly how you want it. And you'll knock down anyone who gets in your way!

You are full of energy. You are spirited and boisterous.
You are bold and daring. You are willing to do some pretty outrageous things.
Your high energy sometimes gets you in trouble. You can have a pretty bad temper at times.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.
You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.
You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Okay, so it's the day of love. The day where all beings express how they feel for their significant other(s). The day where all the mooshie endearments are acceptable without the rolling of eyes. The day where you can truely act like you're in grade school and eat the candy hearts you just glued onto your homemade doily valentine's day card. So what if you're really not into the day of Love? Does that make you a touch weird? Does that mean Bitter is busting out and will shine all day long? Does that mean your heartless soul wails in pain and agony? Or does it simply mean that you've already put in your 43 hours this week and you're exhausted and the thought of having to make heart shaped cookies and leave them on your unsuspecting Valentine's door makes you want to cry? Yeah, I'm in that catagory. I love making fun Valentine's cookies and the cute homemade cards and sneaking them onto a door step and then running for the hills before you get caught! I think its fun! But this year? Well, I'm just too exhausted. The thought of having to go to the store to buy the flour to go into the cookies makes me want to just sit on the floor and cry until the end of summer. Which is kind of a sad thought since I have so many fun ideas to try out and now I have to wait until next year. So the point of this tirade? I need to stop working so many stinking hours!!

I LOVE IT!!

My first time playing GH3 I had 79% and 26 straight notes. I'm now up to 90% with 56 notes. Not anywhere near the pro's but not bad for only playing 4 times, well not bad for me. I love this game!! Dahl received it for his birthday and I can't stop wanting to play it! He said he needs to pick up another guitar so we can battle each other! I think I need to pick up a Wii and Guitar Hero 3 for Valentine's Day, cuz really I love myself that much!!

DAHL!!

Happy Birthday Dahl!! Who reallly believed you'd make it to 26?

My New Max!

OKAY!! So here's how my day started out......I had to take the YHA Girls to school this morning and stay with them all day. So we start out in the parking lot getting ready to leave for school and I take a very graceful dive on the 3 inches of ice. No problem, nothing broken, just got my really cute red Avon bag a bit dirty. I go to school with the girls, try to stay awake in History (hmmm, deja vu), helped out in English, was hit on in Science, and completely lost in Math. So after a wonderful day of Middle School I come home and leave for a quick trip to Holiday. On our way home we start to have car problems and end up hanging out on I-15 for 2 and a half hours waiting for a tow truck, that we never ending up seeing cuz we're not that patient. (Dahl showed up to save us, THANK YOU DAHL!! When in trouble just call Dahl! He also made us chicken enchilladas for dinner). We finally make it home and we're late for Enrichment (see Mom, I do know what that is!!). We grab our stuff and the yummy brownies that Tara made and head out. We do our thing at Enrichment and we're ready to go home. I come out of the church and get to the car and gracefully biff it on the ice again. (I'm telling you, I'm good at this now!) So 3 things....... 1) I really hate Utah in the Winter, 2) Its all okay because we have left over brownies (I think someone new I was going to need them) and 3) Its still an AWESOME day because I have Max!!
Max is my new puppy!! He's only 5 weeks old and an only child to Zowie and Stormie. I found him in Holiday, Utah and can't wait to bring him home in 2 weeks! This is him being held by Tara, funny how you can't really see Tara, some puppies are just camera hogs I guess.

Max will only be in the 3 to 4 lb range, his mom is 3lbs and his dad is 4lbs, so that makes him the perfect size! I can't wait to bring him home! He'll be the same size as Ellie. His mother could be Ellie's twin white sister! It was crazy how much they looked alike! I think I held her more than Max, and yes I did offer to take her home too. She was just so much fun!!
The woman I adopted him from was so nice! I think she was really excited to know that Max was going to be spoiled rotten. As we were leaving she kept giving us hugs, she was really, really nice. She even gave me an X-ray of Max in his mom's tummy. Its cool! I really can't wait to bring him home!!
So even if your day starts out by faceplanting it on the parking lot ice rink, and finishes with you butt-planting it on another parking lot ice rink, it doesn't mean its a bad day. I had brownies and I have Max!!

Sea Turtles are Cool

Sea Turtles can sense latitude and they can also distinguish magnetic field intensity, which gives a rough indication of longitude. Which allows the sea turtle to determine its position at sea. Noggin' Dude.

Ellie

Okay, so anyone who knows me, knows about my Ellie. She's the cutest little poodle EVER!! She was adopted into my family on Sept. 29th, 2004. She weighed 4 oz when she was born and has grown to a full 3 lbs. She has her own traveling suit case for airplanes (Thanks Tara!! You rock!!) that matches my purse (you can say "That's Hot!" right now). She has her very own red Parka for the Utah Winter Weather, several sweaters and a line of cute outfits with matching accessories. She has her very own jewelry box and traveling closet. She likes having her toe nails painted, but not in red, she prefers carnival or soft pink. She loves to play in the snow and dance for treats. She'll sit pretty for you and play catch with any ball, squeaky toy or doll. And is currently suffering from LSE (Low Self-Esteem). She had the most unfortunate accident with a pair of hair clippers this week. She was attacked by some crazed looney lady that was obviously jealous of Ellie's beauty and charm. And due to this unfortunate accident Ellie now shivers through out the day and night and refuses to prance in front of mirrors. So we're asking you for your love and support. For only a few "I love you's" a day, you too, can support this tiny creature of beauty. With your support you will receive...

1) Weekly pictures of Ellie,

2) Updated emails on her health

3) And a personalized autographed picture.

So don't hesitate a minute longer! Reach out! And show your love and support to the Cutest Poodle EVER!! For we all know that Love, makes your hair grow faster!

Dahl.....My Ode to DAHL!!!

So I haven't been feeling very well this last week, hence the whine in every comment that I make. I've picked up this nasty head cold/sinus infection. And its decided to camp out in my ears. I really just can't hear anymore. So last night I had come to my breaking point. You know that point where you just don't have the patience to handle anything anymore. I usually need a brownie when this happens. Last night was no different, I needed my brownie. So I went to the store, cuz heaven forbid I make a brownie myself, and I'm thinking all the way there of what kind of brownie I'm going to get. I could have my all time favorite mint or I could have my Dad's favorite, German Chocolate or I could have Tara's favorite, Cream Cheese. ALL of these are excellent choices. So I went to the bakery to pick, maybe I'd take one of each and be good for the weekend. So I'm searching and searching and searching, I can't find any brownies. So I start talking to myself, "They can't really be out of brownies, this just doesn't happen. No Brownies?? What is going on?? A Brownie Shortage?? I've never heard of this before!!". So yeah, I start to get the wild eye, the world has come to an end look on my face. We're in panic mode. So I buy my apple cider run a few more errands and then come home and call Dahl. He's nice enough to stop playing Call of Duty (what are they on now 4?) and come over and give me a blessing. So here's my ode to Dahl, He Rocks!! I've vowed to stop pulling on his beard until he shaves the ugly thing off. I promise to stop telling large groups of people that he is the Original Hairy Bum. I'll stop encouraging small children to kick him as a sign of affection. And I'll even stop giving him pamphlets on what he can do about hair replacement. I love Dahl.

Promotions.......hmmmmm

So less than 24 hours ago, I was complaining about how I work too much. No big deal, I'm a whiner, I get it. I went to my staff meeting today and then had a follow up with the "big whigs". No biggie, they're all fun-loving people. I already knew what we were going to talk about. I've been given the opportunity to be a shift lead at the home. Just means more responsibility, better pay. And I've been thinking about it for about a week, the pro's, the con's, etc. And I had decided that I really like my 2 nights a week, low responsibility job. That being a shift lead isn't really where I want to be right now. So when they asked me if I would take the position, I was really surprised to hear my No sound so much like a Yes. And even more surprised to hear a list of benefits. So now I have to ask myself, what went wrong? What happened to my No? Why did it sound like Yes? And why did I agree to 5 nights a week? Is this a new form of self-inflicted pain? Do I really hate myself that much? I never thought I hated myself! I've always thought I liked me. I have Sweet Rockin' Hair!! What's to hate about that?? So now, I'm finishing off my day, as I sit here contemplating what's to come, while I eat my yummy honey wheat bagel with plain cream cheese (I'm saving my pumpkin spice for toast). And question whether or not the group home really does suck out my brain cells.

What Happened??

Remember when I said I wanted to get out of my house? I felt like because I worked at home and never went anywhere but Walmart, that I needed to spend 2 nights a week working at a girls group home? And somehow those 2 nights turned to 5? And now I work like 70 hours a week? What happened?? (and just a side note, toast should really only be eaten with such things like pumpkin spice cream cheese)

Prison Break Returns!!

I was so excited for Prison Break to finally return last night!!
But when I finally had the chance to sit down and watch my show (at midnight),
I couldn't remember what was going on! Like what happened to Linc's arm? Did
Michael get caught trying to pull Whistler down from the helicopter? And I thought
Sofia was leaving? (I can't be the only one that thinks she's annoying and should be
swimming with the fishes!!) I just need to go back and watch the last few epsides before
they took their holiday break to get caught back up!!

Poor, Poor Chasers!!

Dear Chase,

Ellie and I would just like you to know that we are thinking of you during this hard time of your life. Our hearts go out to you and the departure of WOW in your life. We both know how hard it is to loose such a loved one. To not be able to come home from school and just log on and "Kill the Bad Guys!!". To wake up on Saturday morning and save the world from "The Horde". We hope you find some comfort in this sad time of your life. If there is anything we can do for you, please don't hesitate to call us.

All Our Love,

Amber & Ellie

My First Ever!!

This is my first time making a Chicken Pot Pie. And believe it or not, it was me that made it, not Tara. I should really send some to Aunt Billy. I bet she'd love it more.

It wasn't all that hard to make. I didn't have any chicken broth or bouillon cubes, so I kind of improvised, but all in all, it wasn't bad. All the kids ate it, so that says something. Tracey even liked it.

The Game Plan

So what is it with Disney movies? They can only have one parent and the other parent has to have died. You see it in all of the classics, Cinderella & Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, etc. So why do they prompt single parents by way of death? Weird. Anyway, we saw this cute movie on Saturday and we're still laughing about it. "The Rock" did a great job. He's skinnier than I think I've seen him before, but still built, maybe he doesn't need to be so bulky since he isn't wrestling anymore? The little girl is really cute, I think she's from Disney's Cory in the House? I'm not sure, but Disney definitely did their share of promoting the Disney Channel & Hannah Montana. It's not for toddlers, I think they'll get bored, but it's definitely for any child addicted to the Disney Channel, and parents (mainly Mom's) will enjoy watching "The Rock" pretend to be a tree.

Matchbox Twenty

Remember when Matchbox Twenty almost called it quits? And then miraculously they pulled it together put aside their ego's and came out with 6 new songs along the side of a greatest hits album? Thank heaven for holiday miracles! I just picked up the fore mentioned album and love it. But what's not to love? I have all of their albums, what better than to get the best of the best on one cd with 6 new songs? My favorite new song is track 4 "These Hard Times". These boys are coming to town in March, it'll be the 4th time I've seen them in concert. They're my Fave!

(As a side note, I really LOVE Rob Thomas' "Something to Be" album. And his follow up song "Little Wonders" from Disney's "Meet the Robinsons". )
